Iollarum

For centuries, farmers and travellers have crossed this land that bears my name: Iollarum. A winding path through the hills. There is a date written on an ancient map of Costigliole: 1428. At that time, Christopher, the Genoese traveller, had not yet discovered the New World. And I was already there, on that old map, pointing the way. Imagine my story on the label, within that whirl of Latin words, and you will hit the mark.

I was born on these hills, the child of the ancient Nebbiolo grape. Elsewhere, grapes from the same lineage give birth to precious wines: Barolo, Barbaresco, Ghemme, Gattinara and Valtellina.

They are like my brothers, but I was born into a different family, alongside the red Barbera, the golden Moscato, and Uvalino, keeper of a wisdom handed down through generations. I am a proud child of Monferrato.

With them I grew, putting down roots and giving precious bunches of grapes, harvested with ancient wisdom, without haste, at just the right moment to give me an elegant and surprising character.

At Cascina Castlét, they first let me grow in “cradles” of ceramic, and then I discovered the brief embrace of oak in barriques. Pour me into your glasses, and I will accompany you, step by step, along the ancient paths once travelled by wayfarers, long before Christopher set the prows of his caravels towards the setting sun in the West.
