It is also possible, thanks to an agreement with the House of the Truffle-searcher, to organise a two- or three-hour visit to the area’s truffle grounds.
The visit foresees, after the presentation of the truffle-searcher and his dogs and a brief explanation of the traditions and characteristics of truffles, a walk through one of the natural truffle grounds and the participation in a true and proper truffle-search; at the end, a short stop at the truffle-searcher’s house to have a taste of the precious mushroom.
The type of truffles to be found depends on the season: from January to March, the black winter truffle and the so-called “bianchetto” (a late-season truffle with a white interior); from June to November, the black summer truffle; from September to January, the mythical white truffle.
It is also possible to organise quite fascinating and scary night-time searches.
